Privacy Policy

Key Principle: Local Browser Processing
Where supported by the individual tool, file processing takes place locally in the user's browser and files are not uploaded to a Toolra server. Your documents and images remain within your device's memory during processing.
1. Introduction
Welcome to Toolra (accessible at https://toolra.site). This Privacy Policy explains our practices regarding the collection, handling, and protection of information when you interact with our online file, PDF, image, and text utilities.
We designed Toolra with a privacy-first technical foundation. We clearly distinguish between tool processing, website analytics, advertising, cookies, and third-party services.
2. Information We Collect
We only collect information that is strictly necessary to deliver, display, and maintain the reliability of the website:
- Local Browser Preferences: Key-value configuration saved on your local device (such as your chosen display theme and cookie consent preferences).
- Technical Connection Logs: Standard HTTP request data (such as browser user-agent, operating system, and IP address) transmitted automatically by your browser when requesting static web assets from our hosting infrastructure (Netlify).
- Voluntary Communications: Information you voluntarily provide if you contact our support inbox via email (such as your name, email address, and inquiry text).
3. Information We Do Not Collect
Because of our client-side architecture:
- Document & File Contents: We do not collect, view, index, or store the contents, text, or visual elements of files you manipulate.
- Account Credentials: We do not require registration, login credentials, or passwords.
- Biometric or Sensitive Personal Data: We never request sensitive categories of personal information.
4. Local File Processing
Where supported by the individual tool, file processing takes place locally in the user's browser and files are not uploaded to a Toolra server.
When you select a PDF, image, or text file on Toolra, the file is read into your browser’s temporary runtime memory (RAM) using standard web standards such as the HTML5 File API and JavaScript ArrayBuffers.
5. How Our Tools Work
Our utilities rely on modern browser-native technologies:
- PDF Tools (Merger, Splitter, Extractor, PDF to Images, Text to PDF): Processed client-side using JavaScript libraries (such as PDF-lib and PDF.js) executing within your web browser sandbox.
- Image Tools (Compressor, Resizer, Format Converters): Executed using HTML5 Canvas elements and Web APIs entirely on your local graphics and processing hardware.
- Text Counter & Calculators: Analyzed immediately in JavaScript with instant client-side calculation.
6. Website Analytics
We may use web analytics tools (such as Google Analytics 4) to evaluate aggregate website traffic, popular tool usage, and browser compatibility errors.
Analytics cookies and scripts are strictly held and disabled by default until the user provides affirmative consent through our Cookie Banner. Analytics services only receive aggregated technical statistics and never receive file names, file data, or document contents.
7. Cookies and Similar Technologies
Toolra utilizes local browser storage (HTML5 localStorage) to maintain basic site functionality:
theme: Stores your preference for Light or Dark mode.fpt_cookie_consent_v1: Records your consent preferences (necessary, analytics, advertising) to prevent repeated consent prompts.
For comprehensive details on individual cookie categories, please review our dedicated Cookie Policy.
8. Advertising
To keep our utilities free for everyone without paywalls, we may display online advertisements. Advertising partners may set cookies or web beacons to serve advertisements based on prior visits or general interest categories.
Advertising cookies are disabled by default on Toolra and are only activated if you explicitly accept them through our consent dialog.
9. Google AdSense
Toolra incorporates configuration for Google AdSense to serve non-intrusive display advertisements. Google uses cookies to serve ads based on user visits to this and other websites on the Internet.
Users may opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google's Ads Settings (https://www.google.com/settings/ads) or by managing their cookie consent settings on Toolra.
10. Third-Party Services
Toolra uses reputable third-party infrastructure to deliver web assets:
- Hosting & CDN: Netlify delivers our static HTML, JavaScript, and CSS assets across global edge servers.
- Web Fonts: Google Fonts provides typography assets.
- Monetization & Analytics: Google AdSense and Google Analytics (subject to user consent).
11. Data Retention
Because tool processing occurs in your web browser, Toolra servers do not store your files. Once you close your browser tab or navigate away, the temporary in-memory representation of your files is cleared by your operating system and web browser.
Local browser preferences (theme and cookie preferences) persist in your local storage until you clear your browser history or cache.
12. Data Security
We implement industry-standard security measures, including HTTPS encryption for all web asset delivery. By executing file processing locally within your browser, your sensitive documents do not travel across the public Internet to our servers, minimizing exposure to transmission interception.
However, no Internet transmission or software application can be guaranteed to be immune from all risks. We advise users to maintain updated web browsers and device security.
13. Children's Privacy
Toolra does not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children under the age of 13 (or under 16 in the European Union). If you believe a child has provided personal information to us, please contact us immediately so we can remove it.
14. Your Privacy Rights (GDPR & CCPA/CPRA)
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have specific statutory rights:
- Right to Know & Access: You have the right to request information about any personal data processed.
- Right to Rectification & Erasure: You can delete any locally stored preferences at any time by clearing your browser cache and cookies.
- Right to Withdraw Consent: You may update or revoke consent for analytics or advertising cookies at any time via our Cookie Policy and settings.
- Right to Non-Discrimination: You will not be denied access to core file tools for exercising your privacy rights.
15. External Links
Our website may contain links to external sites (such as GitHub, Twitter/X, or regulatory bodies). We have no control over and assume no responsibility for the content, privacy policies, or practices of any third-party websites or services.
16. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update our Privacy Policy periodically to reflect enhancements to our tools, legal requirements, or architectural updates. Any updates will be posted on this page with a revised "Last updated" date.
